What do you think, she has every since receipt of service and claims this VR6 needs a timing chain.

Its a pain in the ass to do the chains, but if you can do it yourself you will probably out of the water for under $500. For a $1000 Jetta with records, that probably isn't bad. BUUUT- the crappy pics would make me question the real condition of the car. Also, VW earned its reputation for unreliability and expensive cost of ownership on the backs of the Mk. IV and the VR6, so really consider the condition of the car, its electrical system, and everything else. If it needs a lot of work, you'll quickly go from buying a bargain to losing your shirt.

The chain is real hard to do but with a friend you should be able to. Interior looks stupid but I think you can fix that. Cheap car but I would have to see more pictures. Those pictures that are given are gross, could be hiding soemthing.

You're right. It's my girlfriends car lol. I'll upload better photos in the morning. I'm helping her put together the money to buy another fun car without actually giving her the money. She's picking up an Audi and something's gotta go we have to many cars here.
